I taped my stencil to my watercolor paper and wet the paper, then added blue and red watercolor. After it was dry, I used Versafine Onyx Black ink to stamp weeds, Koi and sentiment. I used my silver Gelly Roll pen to highlight the Koi's scales, tail and fins. I put a drop of crystal lacquer on his eye. It is a bit brighter and shinier in real life.
