I immediately thought of the Sizzix Old Jalopy die when I read Sabrina's challenge. I die cut the jalopy out of black cs and packaging from a TH die. The packaging has a mottled mix of browns that gives a rusty look. I trimmed the brown layer to expose the tires inserted acrylic between the layers and cut the trim from a scrap of silver. I smacked my embossing buddy over the acrylic and covered with glaze mixed with brown ink to make the windows nice and grimy.
For the bg, I sponged an old Atlas map with ink. Die cut and stamped the gas pump. Embossed kraft cs with Spellbinders brick, then Darice brick folders to get texture and brick size proportioned to the jalopy. Trimmed and crimped gray cs for the roof. Die cut trees, trimmed to fit and sponged with green inks. Layered it all on a kraft card base. Stamped and embossed the sentiment to complete.

Love all the special details you added to your classic card, Carla...the acrylic on the windows and the exposed tires! You've created a wonderful vintage scene!

Absolutely fabulous, Carla - and I loved reading your description too. It looks a little like the earlier London taxis. The map and trees make a fab background, and while it's obviously Route 66 it reminds me of both one of the campsites we've stayed in in France and there's a drive over the mountains down in the southwest here, and there used to be an old derelict filling station with old-fashioned pumps at the start of it. Thanks for creating such a super sample.

Love the layers on that old car Carla. Great die cut to have for the challenge. The trees through the window really adds a great layer to the car. Nicely done.

I have to keep looking back at this card to catch all the tiny details - I was so focused on the old jalopy on my first look that I totally missed the bit of brick building with the corrugated (tin) roof. Beautifully done!

Love it, Carla! I should have been look for patterned paper at your house. I wanted to use a roadmap underneath my truck. The filling station supporting your classic car looks amazing!
