As an ex professional cook, I couldn't resist Homemade Kindness when it came out - and also I grew up with an old (I think we started with a Raeburn but most of my own cooking memories are a cream Esse, and then finally after I left home my dad installed a big grey FrancoBelge and finally, central heating) solid-fuel range in the kitchen. Ever since I got it, it's been on my desk with the Voila chef waiting for me to cook up a card which would combine them both - and up till now I've been too busy just keeping up with Christmas and commitments. But when I was looking at the RAK list for January birthdays I spotted an upcoming one and I said "I am going to make that card." So here it is, at last, and my desk will be just a little less cluttered now that I've got it done - though I'd still like to make one with a shadowbox or diorama.
Stamped and masked the chef. Stamped the stove, carefully positioning it so that the floor line was parallel with the card base. Drew in the rest of the floor line and used Irene's checkerboard flooring tutorial from Resources for my tiled floor. After stamping in the cake and sentiment I used the Scor-Pal to create a tile background, stamping a few little flowers in for interest. Coloured the images with pencils, matted on black and added to a white base. Bigger than usual because I had to stand the chef well in the foreground. I miss birthday cake - making your own doesn't count and I think I've only had someone make one for me once since my mother died.

Hello, and Happy New Year to you!!! 😀It is always a pleasure to see your card artwork, and I feel particularly blessed to see your first of 2019.
I am beyond impressed that you have created this cool scene for those stamps that have sentimental interest to you--I particularly love your wall with its texture created by your scored lines and that fantastic floor! I love that your cards always make me think and they tend to take concepts to the next level, and I love to learn simply by viewing cards by an artist I respect and admire, which is you!!! 😀
I look forward to seeing lots of your cards in 2019!

I've seen that chef on your previous cards, but hadn't noticed that stove. Love them together. Adding the checkerboard floor and scored tile bg created the perfect scene for your cute chef. Cute card, Sabrina and Happy New Year!

Sabrina, I love that chef and always kick myself that I didn't purchase him. You did a totally fab job creating this kitchen to put him in. Love the card. I also love that you send so many wonderful BRAK cards out - you have so much heart. Many hugz and well wishes for 2019.

I have that chef still in my collection. I am so thrilled to see so many of my old SU stamps making it into the gallery this week. I plan on making more use of them this year. Use the stash, strapped for cash!!!! I can make this work!!
