It's still VSN...time until the 24th of December to upload your creations in the special galleries. This time around, it's Holiday Stories. More than 15 different options...and a great way to get those last minute special cards done. Check it out: on the Home page under On Going Challenges.
My card is for Sharon's (smadson) 'The First Christmas. I wanted to use this glorious nativity stamp from Inkadinkadoo. I love the depth of this image...from the wise men following the STAR, Mary and Joseph with the babe, Jesus. There was no room for them in the inn, so the stable is depicted. I used a couple of matches to carve a cross to place atop the stable.
The scripture is from Luke 1. I embossed it with ep and popped it above the main image. And an epoxied Eternity at the bottom. The peach layer was dry embossed with a Tim Holtz patterned folder. This reminded me of the elegant tapestries from 400 years ago that visited our University Museum last year. It was thrilling to be in the presence of such large textile works of art.
The Sketch Challenge today was perfect for my First Christmas. Thanks for stopping by. If you ever get a chance to view the Barberini tapestries, go! And I appreciate the gift of your comments.

Love the use of these colors for your card, the wonderful added textures, and that cross bar overhead in the manger seems to remind us of the cross for which was the fulfillment of His coming. Behold the Lamb of God who came to take away the sins of the world.

There is always so much to see in your cards Susan! Layers of meaning. I really like the font on your scripture. Thanks for the link to the tapestries. I think textiles get shorted when it comes to appreciation. I am amazed at the age of some of them and that they are still with us. Super card!
