Did you know that 'scintillant' is French for glitter? 'Ruban scintillant' is glitter tape. I'm going to fling that around a bit and see if anyone notices.
Combo challenge going on here. Yesterday's colors (my version), today's sketch (my version) but mostly it is for yesterday's teapot challenge. It's Ruth's 90th birthday and what else would you send to a lovely lady but a card with a ton of glitter?
I will send Ruth some info about my village, Menomonee Falls, WI. We are the most populated village in Wisconsin, about 35,000 folks. I chose the glitter and the 'sweet' sentiment because in the late 1800's, we had a sugar factory that processed sugar beets. The Wisconsin Sugar Factory employed 500 people and produced over 15 million pounds of sugar. People still talk about the factory. In the late 50's our population tripled because of annexing the town of Menomonee Falls. In the 1960's six schools were built to accomodate we boomers. We were basically a bedroom community for Milwaukee. Yes, we have a falls, but it is very short; just like Niagara Falls, it got shorter with time. We have a large dam that was home to a flour mill and many think this is our falls. Nope. We are home to Harley Davidson and there is a house here that was owned by the Davidson family.
One note about the card: I wanted to do something a bit wonky with the sketch (because I can) so I masked two of the narrow strips with torn masking paper, put down some glue and used an art glitter called clementine, rather green in color. And the cloth tag came from Etsy, I added the sentiment. Oh my goodness, there is something very bright outside. Is it a UFO? No, it's the sun. We have been darn gray around here lately. I suppose this means we'll get colder. Fine with me.

Just loved reading the history of Menomonee Falls, WI and I know Mother will love learning about it, too. What a "sweet" glittery card you've created with the reference to the late 1800's sugar factory located in your village. Your fabric sentiment treatment adds such wonderful texture ... love it. Thank you for coming to Mother's tea party and helping her celebrate her 90th birthday!

I would have expected clementine to be orange! How cool to tie in the sparkle glitter with the sugar beet industry. It used to be big here too, but I have a feeling the factory down in the southwest closed down some years back - probably cheaper to import than to grow and process. How interesting about the Harleys - though DH is one of those "anything but a Harley" bikers.
LOL at the sun. Give me a blue sky and cold any day over dreary oppressive grey.
