Even though I think this image is a bit hard to color, I still love the old-fashioned look of it! Actually, the only real difficulty is in the greenery on the sled, since everything is so detailed & kind of dense in that part. But I just keep the stamp sheet by me, so I can better see what's what.
I stamped the image onto a piece of kraft cardstock with Rich Cocoa ink, using my MISTI. I wanted a vintage look, which is why I went with the brown cardstock & ink. I colored the image with my colored pencils, leaving the fence posts uncolored, just to bring more attention to my focal point. For the sled, I did add a light layer of white pencil over the boards first, just so the color I ultimately used wouldn't be quite so dark. I placed the panel back in my MISTI, and stamped over the image again with Rich Cocoa, just to give more definition to the stamp lines. As a finishing touch, I went over the nail heads in the sled with a silver paint pen.
I used the "Merry Christmas" greeting from "Drummer Boy." I stamped it on a strip of red cardstock with Versamark, and white heat embossed it. I cut the ends of the strip in a fishtail, and scored where I wanted to fold the banner. After I adhered my focal panel to a piece of patterned paper, I used foam tape in the middle of my banner to adhere it. I stuck the ends of the banner down with glue dots. Finally, I matted my patterned paper with more kraft, and adhered that to a white card base.

What beautiful coloring, Andrea! I think this is a hard image, but you've made it come to life -- I really love that you added the silver to the nail heads. Wonderful DP and great way to add the sentiment! Totally love it! Hugs! xoxo
