I got the inspiration for this card from one I found on Pinterest. I wanted to add a greeting to my card, but there is none on the inspiration card. I was afraid, if I embossed the tree in gold like the other card, that my greeting might get lost. So it took some thinking to figure out how to do that. I finally decided to use Silver Pearl embossing powder for the tree rather than gold, and used Liquid Platinum on a vellum banner for the greeting. The card was also a bit more difficult than some I've made recently, since the steps had to be done in a certain order, so I had to make sure I stayed focused throughout the process.
I cut a panel of bristol paper to 4x5.25". I stamped & heat embossed my tree in the center, then ink blended the entire panel with Distress inks. I didn't want the snow (bottom) portion to be stark white, since the tree was basically white, so I used Spun Sugar on that section. After I finished ink blending, I buffed the excess ink off the tree, and used a metal ruler & craft knife to cut out the middle of the panel.
I embossed the frame portion with the "Ben Day Dots" folder. I didn't foresee that the paper would crack just a hair where the dots were. I hadn't wanted to mist the panel before embossing, since I was afraid the Distress inks might run. So after I dry embossed, I just went over the blue areas (where the cracking was most visible) with my blending foams in the same colors, without re-inking the foam pads. That served to cover any bits of white paper that showed.
I matted my focal panel with white, leaving a 1/16" border. I adhered my frame piece to a white card base, and then glued down the middle panel. For the greeting, I used the "Merry Christmas" from "Color Layering Christmas Tree." I used the banner die from "Tags a Lot" as a guide to curve the stamp in my MISTI. I stamped it onto a piece of vellum with Versamark, and heat embossed. I die cut it with the same banner, and ran it through my Xyron Creative Station 250 machine to apply adhesive to the back. Finally, I adhered it to my card front.

This is just gorgeous. I just took my son to youth group tonight and this is pretty much what the sky looked like. LOVE your colors and that you got both pieces out of one piece of paper. Your greeting on the vellum banner is just perfect. One of a kind! TFS!!
