This is going out to Ruth who recently celebrated her 90th birthday. She is a big geography and history buff. We were to share any interesting facts abut our own home state. I made a gnome card since Minnesota has a lot of Scandinavians who settled here (my own ancestors included). I thought these gnomes looked like they came from Sweden or Norway. I also wrote Ruth a note and told her of my hometown's famous landmark. I grew up in Hastings, MN and at one time there was a "Spiral Bridge" over the Mississippi River. It was built with a curved part on the end...supposedly it was done this way so the downtown area would not be bypassed. It was torn down in the 1950's. Google it if you're intrigued.
**Note-I am having Sabrina move this card for me to the TEAparty gallery as I am traveling for the next week or so. I won't be able to comment but will check out the cards when I return.**

Oh, Polly these gnomes are just adorable! This will certainly bring a smile to Mother's face, thank you for coming to her party (and you even planned your card ahead since you are traveling this week)! I am amazed and intrigued by the photos of that spiral bridge ... what a shame that it was taken down!! Mother will love learning about your home town's famous landmark!

I didn't realize Minnesota had a large Swedish/Norse population for real...I always thought it was just meant to be funny when Rose talked about it on the Golden Girls. LOL I am definitely going to look up the spiral bridge. That's neat. This card is just the cutest representation of your story. Those little gnomes in the boat are way cute. :-)

What a great sailing gnome ship Polly! Ruth is going to get a kick out of this fun card. I love this challenge we get to know a bit more about our friends here on scs with what we are putting on our cards. I knew you were from MN but did not know about your ancestry.

Polly, what a fantastic gnome-occupied vessel flowing in the waves. Interesting story about the Scandinavians and thanks for sharing about your ancestry.
