This get well card was inspired by the Friday Free For All Challenge, F4A458 Cowboys & Cowgirls 11/29/18.
The challenge was to use cowboys or cowgirls or both on your card. When I spotted this old retired and seldom used SU Happy Trails stamp set in my stash I knew I had to use it, despite the fact that there wasnât a single cowboy or girl in the set! How could I not use this beautifully sketched image of a beat-up cowboy hat image and knarly wood rail fence? Is that not the coolest fence, ever????!!!
To update the look and feel of this vintage stamp set, I paired it with the the new SU Buffalo Check backgrounder image. To get a nice warm, masculine, flannel-y feel, I stamped the Buffalo Check on Red cardstock with my new favorite intense black ink, Versafine Clair Nocturne. I used this same ink on the image panel and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.
The cowboy hat was stamped on a scrap, heat embossed and colored and then fussy cut and shaped before hanging it on the fence post with a couple of mini dimensionals. The image panel was glued to the Buffalo Check frame and then I added 2 more layers of cardstock to the back of this before gluing to the card front. Doing this adds a bit of dimension without making the panel look like its hovering above the card front.
To finish, I tucked the pine sprig die cuts under the inside edge of the checked frame and added the simple get well greeting.
Thanks for moseying by and taking a gander at my Happy Trails get well card!

So cute. I love your fence with the cowboy hat waiting to be picked up by the cowboy that probably lost it bronc riding. The black/red checked paper is so perfect with it.
