I wanted something that says "Wow!" for my brother and his fiance's upcoming wedding. I had never made a lever card, which really makes a statement when it's opened, so chose that as my technique.
I choose the gorgeous papers from Stampin' Up! (SU) "Sweet Soiree" designer series paper to "bump it up a notch". The floral spray was fussy cut from one of the papers in this set, and the silver dotted Calypso Coral paper was another design paper in the set. I paid particular attention to orienting my dotted paper so the heavier clustering of dots was always at the bottom of the strips.
To make this card you need a single sheet of 8.5"x 11" cardstock. In this case I wanted it to contrast with the pattern papers, so chose SU "Rich Razzleberry". For a step-by-step tutorial on how to do the cuts to create the window and the lever feature, please visit: Lever Card Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers It has an excellent video tutorial as well!
Be sure and use super tough double-sided tape like Score Tape or the red double-sided tape. The person who you send this card to will want to open and close it several times, so you need to make sure it can hold up with all the movement.
There is an inside panel that is perfect for a vertical die-cut sentiment like "Congratulations". It isn't visible in the photo, but faces the white panel in the back where I plan to hand write a personal message.
While this card is beautiful, it comes at the price of VERY careful measurements and EXACT cutting. I am rating the difficulty level as "5" out of a possible "5".
