Festival Day has dawned in Whykickamoocow - but all is not as it should be. You can tell from the looks on Bridie and Bindi Bird's faces that these are not the prize winning dahlias they were hoping to enter in the flower show.
Overnight there was been a "weather event". Now Whykickamoocow is in the back of beyond - yes beyond the black stump. Very little rain falls there. But overnight an EAST COAST LOW developed off the east coast bringing with it torrential rain and storms. More rain than they know what to do with out there now. Somehow these exotic blooms appeared in the garden overnight thanks to all the lovely rain. The dahlias are a write off but the exotics are blooming in all their glory.
Wonder if there is a category for exotics at the Whykickamoocow Festival - if there is Bridie and Bindi will be taking out first prize.
For this card I stamped the images and coloured them all and then highlighted them with glitter gel pens for some added sparkle. The stamps are all Darkroom Door stamps - I must get them out more often! I fussy cut the flowers and birds and then layered them up onto a watercolour background made using paints.
Wouldn't you just like to all meet up at Whykickamoocow?
Hope you enjoy.

I love how the weather event brought exotic blooms to Whykickamoocow, as much as I love dalhias your new blooms are spectacular. How very appropriate that you brought Darkroom Door stamps to our teaparty, beyond the black stump (I think only you, me and Sydney Sue will know about that LOL). Helen I'm so glad you created this gem for our visit to Whykickamoocow. Love it!!!!

Exotic indeed! Bridie and Bindi are so cute, and I love the light, airy feel to this - glowing with Aussie warmth. I guess they must live near Sydney, going by the current weather reports :-(.

Awww Helen ... I'll meet you after the dance contest and we can ogle all the flower arrangements together. I can tell you right now that yours are the winners! Gorgeous colours and not a damaged petal among them! None of these beauties would be happy in my garden right now I can tell you. :-)

Ha, I imagine those living in Whykickamoocow would absolutely delight in seeing these exotic flowers in their part of the country, Helen!! Your card is beautifully done, what great stamps and I love the watercoloured bg! BTW, I know all about east coast lows this week here in Sydney, what a day we had yesterday!!!

What a fun card along with your commentary! I finished my card yesterday except for the inside notes as two printers were out of ink! I think Sue should write a book, and you should have a chapter!
