In the making of this card, I happened upon an amazing discovery!! These two birds, let's call them Tex and Emmy Lou, are not only the same stamp, but apart from chopping their legs off, neither of them have been surgically modified in any way.
The only differene is Tex has a bigger hat which covers his shoulders, longer legs and a coloured-on vest and as pretty as Emmy Lou looks, she appears to be a bit on the chunky side!!
About the making of this card for Robin's fun Free for All challenge "Ride em Cowboy". Tex and Emmy Lou were stamped onto smooth white cardstock and coloured with Inktense pencils and Prismacolour pencils. Their hats are from a Mo's Digi pencil image (I cut the girls face off and just used the hat) printed onto copy paper and coloured with Copics.
After I coloured Tex's body, I drew on the vest and coloured it with Copics, added some stitching using a white Posca paint pen. These paint pens are great, the nib is 0.7mm. The colours are good and I especially love the white, gold and silver.
Their boots are a knock-off Unity boot stamp. The stamp points the boot to the left and also its much bigger. I stamped the original boot onto paper, trimmed it big time and coloured the wrong side - dadaaa they now face the other way and are a better fit.
The background is the usual smack and squirt technique - smack distress ink pad onto aluminium foil, squirt on a heap of water and use a foam blending tool to scrub the inky water onto the cardstock.
The treee's and follige were stamped with Forest Moss distress ink. Liquid pearls and a few stickles were added here and there. A rustic fence was drawn on using a Posca silver paint pen. Everything looked a bit bright and the background was detracting from Tex and Emmy Lou so I did my usual thing and scrubbed on some walnut stain distress ink all over the background. I just use the remains of ink from my walnut stain foam blending tool, if ever there isn't enough colour, thump the foam blender (or sponge) into the ink pad then scrub off the excess on a scrap of paper...use these stained scraps to make more boots. Win/win.
Fun fact: A cowboy and a cowgirl are called a Jackaroo and a Jillaroo here in Australia.
I hope you get a chance to get inky and join in the fun.

Gold and silver Posca? Bummer, I'm not going to get to visit the art shop in Cork on our next visit, so probably not till Jan or Feb. I hope I haven't forgotten about them by then! I've always thought that particular bird already looks as if it's wearing a waistcoat, but I love the extra leather one you gave Tex. I love Emmy Lou's skirt, and their boots. Fab, fun card Susie.
