I got my inspiration for my card that I'm sending to Send a Smile 4 Kids from this card I saw on Pinterest. I just liked the layout & the Pop Art look of the penguin squares.
After I determined how large my squares needed to be, I cut them from bristol paper. I stamped penguins in each square, masked them, and ink blended the background for each. I figured since I had 6 squares, I'd use rainbow colors. Why not? After I finished inking, I removed the masks and used a black Micron pen to draw the borders around the boxes. I also colored the penguins' beaks & skates with Tombow markers, and used corresponding marker colors to fill in any gaps around my penguins where the mask had covered outside the lines of the penguins.
I arranged the squares on a white A2 card base in rainbow order, and adhered them in place. I stamped my greeting, from "Jolly & Merry," with Versafine Onyx Black ink, centered underneath the bottom row of squares. I was pleasantly surprised that the greeting just fit!
For the black border, I cut a strip of cardstock. I die cut the right edge with one of the "Classic Postage Stamp" dies, and adhered it in place on my card base. Because I die cut the one edge, I had trimmed my strip wider than I needed, so I just cut off the overhanging portion. And that finished this encouragement card! Hopefully it will bring a smile to the face of a hospitalized child!
