Our hostess, Humma (Julie) asked we bring Color Blocks to the CAS challenge this week. I decided I would go on a monochromatic trip. And Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece is coming along for the ride. I first gazed at Mona when I was 16 and viewed at the Louvre Museum. She's lived there since 1797! It's no wonder she's got that dour smile.
For my color blocking, Mona was inked in 'Paris Blue', the paintbrush handle is 'Nautical Blue', and the sentiment Kid's Quotes' 'Danube Blue'. The pom pom trim is variegated in several hues of blue and the vintage German foil scrap in a electric blue. The brush tip (remember Mona's a rebel is 'Red Velvet'...she's drawn in luscious lips with that brush.
So I know my design is wonky...but the white space is there and I think I've ticked all the boxes! Thanks for the challenge.
...remember we are all ARTists. I'd love to hear a thrilling time in your life when you discovered an artist you love. Thank you for your time.

Super fun and creative to go monochromatic for the color block challenge! The splash of red really sets the tone for ‘rebel’ Mona Lisa!! Lol
Way back in eighth grade, our class took a trip to Washington DC to site see.
The monuments are glorious works of art and can also vividly remember seeing the Hope Diamond at the Smithsonian Institute!! Amazing artwork throughout DC!!

I seriously just spat coffee on my computer!! Oh Susan I can always rely on you to rattle the cage. I LOVE what you did to Mona, and the setting you created for her. Leo would be tickled pink!
My favourite artist, Jack Vettriano, is certainly not in the league of Leo and the Masters, but I do love everything he creates.

I always love your artistic take on the challenges, Susan, and I really love Mona Lisa here and the brilliant sentiment!! Terrific embellishments, too!

I love how your mind works!! This is awesome! I really love the smile!
I was a bit older than you were when I laid eyes on Mona at the Louvre, but the same thrill was there. What a crowd she had gathered around her too.
