How could I pass up Janelle's MIX300 Royal Garden challenge for the 300th MIX challenge. Especially when I had been working on a background with flowers, and had time before work to add some suitable stencilling (it's meant to be stitches, but it makes a good garden trellis) before work, using Cosmic Shimmer texture paste.
The background had been made as per the tutorial which you can find HERE. I used blue, yellow and buff titanium acrylics after stamping with flower shop, timeless textures, off the grid and a HA script stamp in assorted inks.
Also before work I stamped the flowers on some thin watercolour paper, but alas, they stayed untouched in my purse till I got home again. There I cut them out and coloured them with Mermaid Markers. I found a piece of Brusho-stained seam binding in the perfect colours to use in my garden, so I tied a bow and arranged it on the card. Added some half pearls. Added my flowers, along with some leaves cut from a gel print and some sprigs punched from vellum.
Found a tiny little butterfly on my desk, so he flew in too. The bird is cut from a piece of Tyvek coloured with who knows what. I used Craft-T metallic rub-ons to add colour to him (and some on the card base too), and a half pearl for his eye.
Edged it all with copper EP, then decided it needed to have a white border so managed to trim 3/8" off two sides and coppered them up again. I wasn't sure how to interpret "royal", but purple is the colour of royalty. Ha, I guess I should have used the little bird from An Open Heart, since the wren is meant to be the king of all birds.
Off to my aunt for dinner, I'll catch up with the gallery tomorrow.

This is delightful and so rich it requires pondering. Let me pull up my log and sit a spell! I love the ribbon, the purple flowers almost look like they are velvet. The script, damask scroll, and grid all add to that depth. Thanks for linking the technique...I appreciated watching it.
