This is for Anita’s Teapotters Challenge – Take a book. She wanted to know what we like to read. I am inspired by stories of how people get through difficult circumstances and overcome hardships, with their faith in God, prayer, the help of family & friends and their determination. I haven’t made a card in a few weeks; I felt like a beginner! I used a very old SU stamp set (1993) that has a wooden shelf and little stamps to put on the shelf, along with some sentiments (32 total). It was the only set I could think of with books. I colored the images with watercolor pencils which I haven’t used for a while and used an aqua painter pen. I layered on Brushed Gold (retired) and Merry Merlot, used Mulberry paper under that and put all on a Confetti White (retired) card base combining the old with the new. The sentiment is heat embossed in gold to go with the gold layer and ribbon. It went nicely the theme of the challenge. Scored some lines on the left side like the edge of a book. Glad to participate in a challenge today. TFL

I love your pretty book looking card, the scored lines are great and the the fun shelf with the sentiment are so true!! I love to see what kind of books you read and like, I agree with you, it can be comforting and help others to read how people come through a tough part of their life, praying and friends are a big part of a good treatment!!
Thanks for playing in my challenge!!

Diane, I'm sorry to read about your DH, I hope he's doing well now. I'm glad you felt able to allow yourself some you time to enjoy stamping. I've always loved seeing cards made with this set, what a great one to use for this challenge. I like the use of the mulberry paper.

I love your little book shelf and how fun to have the choice of items to put on that. That saying is the best ....I've never had a lot of friends but the ones I have are true. I hope your DH is doing better...all the best to you both.

Don't we all wish we had a delightful little book shelf like this to display our favourite books. Hope your husband is feeling better now - hospital is no place for rest and recovery.
