For my design, I actually rotated the sketch 90 degrees counterclockwise. I sized the image in Photoshop, & printed it onto watercolor paper. I painted the girl & scarecrow with my Inktense pencils, using a damp paintbrush to pick up the color from the pencils & apply it to the paper. After that had dried, I used my Mission Gold watercolors to paint the sky & ground. Initially I painted the ground green (wasn't really thinking), but then added Yellow Ochre over it, since I figured a scarecrow wouldn't be standing in green grass in the fall. It's still a bit green, but I like it better than what I had.
I cut a piece of purple cardstock to 4x5-1/4". I stamped the "Gingham Background" on that with Versamark ink, and clear heat embossed it. Then I ink blended over it with Faded Jeans Oxide ink, and buffed off the excess ink from the heat embossing. I wanted to mimic the pattern on the patch on the scarecrow's left arm, just to give some added interest to that panel.
I wrapped 3 pieces of jute twine around the purple panel, adhering the ends of each to the back of the panel with Scor Tape. My idea was to keep the panel from getting too bulky, so I didn't just wrap the twine around the whole panel 3 times. I popped up my focal panel with foam tape, leaving a gap in the tape layer where the panel would sit over the twine. Finally, I used more Scor Tape to adhere my purple panel to a piece of yellow cardstock, & mounted my focal panel on top. I added 3 Nuvo Crystal Drops, and this card is ready to send to Send a Smile 4 Kids!
