This is for Dawn's Free 4 All Challenge - Doing it old school - write out your sentiment by hand. Years ago, I was self-taught and dabbled in simple calligraphy, so I searched and found a slanted calligraphy marker in my stash. Surprised I had one.
I chose a pre-stamped image from my stash. I had colored with markers on the rubber of a stamp, spritzed it with water and stamped on watercolor paper. I didn't like how the leaves spread out, so I did another and put this one in my stash. Finally I used it today.
I hand-wrote the sentiment. No practicing, no spacing, no over thinking - just did it. I was surprised that I could still do some calligraphy-like writing reasonably okay. I matted the panel on Cherry Cobbler and die-cut an Always Artichoke scalloped edge panel to layer on. I could not decide what card base to use; I did think it needed more color. I found a raised-up sticker with that went along nicely. It had a Pool Party background. Again, no over thinking it and just went with it. I think I like it. Thanks Dawn for the nudge to do some old-school calligraphy today. TFL
Update - This card is going to a 90 year old lady who is having some health issues. She served in WWII as a nurse. She likes roses and the color red.

Great job! Is one thing I struggle with - over thinking everything with my card designs - I'm going to follow your lead - no more over-thinking! Thanks for the inspiration - the card is beautiful!

Diane, what a gorgeous vintage card this is. I have this rose image and have been wondering how to use it, and then I see this terrific example in your gallery- how fun! Your hand lettering looks so lovely with your water colored rose. The postage stamp in the corner along with the gorgeous vintage colors/layers make for one gorgeous card. Thank you so much for the such terrific inspiration here! ~Karen.
