I made this card for this week's TeaPot Tuesday challenge which is, "A Blast From the Past." Sandy (Stampingwriter) is asking us to use products from the past - which means before embossing folders and dies. Fun! How I remember when I first started stamping and there were plastic stencils to help us fussy cut out shapes, embossing powder, mulberry paper and maybe a couple of decorative edge scissors. So, I pulled out one of my very first stamp sets from 1993 (that tells you how long I have been stamping) to use on this card. I fussy cut the image panel and I tore the mulberry paper. I masked off a duck that was sitting on the books so I could stamp candle sticks there instead. I regret not heat embossing the sentiment because I still think heat embossing is like magic. I had to go on a hunt for my colored pencils, and it took awhile to find them. They are no name with a price tag of $2.99 so again, that tells you how old they are. Pencils are hard for me to use with my hands so markers are easier, but I did enjoy pulling them out and using them on this card today. I truly had a blast remembering back how we used to stamp and making this card today. Thanks for looking! ~Karen.

How cute!!! I love the way you used your supplies on this! I like how you added candlesticks instead of the duck! So clever. Pretty mulberry paper!! I remember when I first started stamping the little corner punches were in style. One of the first cards I saved to my favorites for future CASEing was a card with corners like you have on your card!

You are pretty good with scissors, mf. My, I'm impressed! Cute autumn arrangement on the table with the books of course and a wise sentiment! Nothing wrong with going back to the past and dusting off some unloved items~

Wonderful card, Karen! So much reminds me of my early stamping days. I think I might have that stamp set, either way I do remember it. Oh yes, mulberry paper and decorative scissors were the things. Love the colors you used. Beautifully done. TFS

What a wonderful image and sentiment. How cool to mask off the duck and place candlesticks on your books. I really like your "blast from the past" card.

I see lots of corner punches have come out of the hidden corners for this challenge - although I keep mine in a drawer under my computer monitor for easy access.
Heat embossing is magic - it's what first drew me, and I think many others, into stamping. I was in import and distribution of fine-art supplies and DH and I had gone to Ireland's one and only craft show to deliver stuff to one of our customers - and there was a man demoing heat embossing. But actually here I think the softer look of a plain stamped sentiment looks just right with the sweet slightly vintage feel of the image. You fussy- cut the image panel! Oh my, I was sure it was a die-cut. I only ever tried deckle scissors on anything like this because it didn't have to be so regular.
My books are choice and carefully selected, but few I'm afraid they are not!

Very sweet creation from digging through your old goodies! I love the sweet image and colored pencil coloring. And your old tools. I don't know why I've never seen mulberry paper before...
