This card was made as a Design Team card as inspiration for Try Stampin' on Tuesday Sketch Challenge #383: https://trystampinontuesday.blogspot.com with the optional theme of "cozy patterns".
I just got my new Stampin' Up! (SU) "Animal Outing" stamp set with matching dies, so I couldn't resist using them! The giraffe is so darn cute with his friend the frog.
The background papers are from a retired SU Designer Series Paper Stack called "Go Wild". I chose the large giraffe pattern and a matching abstract pattern that I separated with a piece of SU Chocolate Chip ribbon. The card base is SU Crumb Cake.
The main focal point is the giraffe panel. I stamped him using SU Early Espresso ink onto a scrap piece of SU So Saffron cardstock. I added shadowing to him using the Copic marker E00 (White Skin) that dries to a perfect slight shading. I used the matching die from SU's "Animal Friends" dies to cut him out.
The frog on a branch was inked using SU Stampin' Write markers in two shades of green, and Close to Cocoa directly onto the stamp, then stamped onto SU Whisper White cardstock. I used the matching die from SU's "Animal Friends" dies to cut it out.
The green panel is retired SU Pistachio Pudding cardstock that I ran through my Big Shot using SU's "Petal Burst" dynamic embossing folder. Note that when you use these extra deep folders, it's best to mist your cardstock lightly with water before running it through the Big Shot.
The embossed green panel was matted with SU Chocolate Chip cardstock and adhered to the card front using adhesive foam strips.
The sentiment is from SU's retired "Petite Pairs" stamp set. I inked it with SU Wild Wasabi. The stamped sentiment was die-cut with SU's "Layering Ovals" die set, with a matching scalloped oval cut from Chocolate Chip cardstock. The sentiment was attached along the bottom with a piece of adhesive foam strip that was lifted just a little higher to match the level of the green panel using Mini Glue Dots. The top back of the sentiment oval was attached with Mini Glue Dots.
The final step was to add the three round elements below the giraffe panel, per the sketch. I chose green rhinestones from Michaels to carry on with the green theme.
I thought this will make a cute birthday card for either kids or adults. I am rating the difficulty level as a "2" out of a possible "5". The hand coloring was minimal and very forgiving. If you don't like to hand color images, SU's matching "Animal Expedition" designer series paper has pre-printed color images for the giraffe and branch that match the dies I used. Makes the time much shorter and easier.
