This week our Teapot Tuesday cards are going to Dr Sonja's mother. I drew on Sonja's paternal heritage to give my my Amsterdam houses, and her mother's love of irises to fill in the gap between my houses. Images stamped and masked. I stencilled in the brick and a flourish for the sky. Masked all this off and mirrored the houses. Confession - first time round I was super-lazy and just stamped the houses upside down. I made the canal water a bit darker and stamped Aida Cloth over it in brown and DH didn't realise they weren't proper reflections. But I did - so I did proper reflections on a piece of thin paper and put it on the base. Interestingly DH thought I had remade the whole card, he said it was much brighter. I guess the less "muddy" canal waters paid off ;-). It had to be tall to accommodate the houses (which are coloured with pencils), which was fine because it let me add the iris and sentiment. Fun to make - now I have to make a custom envelope so I can mail it.
Oh yes - the tin heart was embossed with Textile ef and sanded.
You can find the Teapot Tuesday challenge HERE if you want to learn why we are sending cards to Sonja's (Dr Sonja) mother.

A delightful card for Sonja's mom. I love those Amsterdam houses...very colorful! And the stenciled bg looks great, the iris in the middle is so cool...what a great idea to put that in-between the houses. The reflections are perfect, too. Very creative!

Such a lovely scene, Sabrina. The reflections are very pretty and the middle heart and flower are very cool touches. Lovely card!

I love your pretty card for Sonja's mother the reflection is so pretty and this will remind her of the pretty houses in Amsterdam, this image makes me think about Anne Frank too , I visited the place where she lived.
Your coloring and the Iris are so pretty too, and finally the golden heart is very pretty!!

Wow, great job on the reflections! These are lovely canal houses! I have seen them in real life in Amsterdam and in Curacao. In fact, i have miniatures on a curio shelf by my dollhouse. Great card!

Just gorgeous in every detail. Blue is one of my mother's favorite colors and that iris will bring such sentimental memories. I love those canal houses and the "proper" reflections give such an ethereal touch to the languid water lapping below. Everything about this shouts love. Thank you for sharing your talent with me and my mother.

What a thoughtful scene for the ladies. I love how you did the reflection on the water...wow...so neat, would be so wonderful to go there and ride between markets and houses...:0) and pretty sparkly heart....great way to use that set...TFs..:0)

Oh, I adore what you have made here Sabrina. I am chuckling about your DH thinking you had remade this card. Ha! You are one step ahead of him in this card-making journey. Ha! It is fun to keep them on their toes too! The details you include in your cards is just amazing Sabrina. The brick, the flourish for the sky, the reflection of the houses in the "canal water" and this gorgeous blue iris with fabulous sentiment and fancy embossed tin heart. Annette will love this wonderful card you made just for her! ~Karen.

Wowza Sabrina totally gorgeous row houses and great coloring too. I love that our DHs don't see our transitions when we create cards. The less muddy waters look great on the houses too. Really beautifully done.
