I made this card to send to Send a Smile 4 Kids. I know it's still August, but they need cards ahead of time, so they can ship them to the hospitals they serve. So here is a (basically) Thanksgiving card.
I knew I wanted to color the turkey with my water-based markers. For some reason, I've found that the Tombow & Zig Clean Color markers react slightly with the ink in my Epson printer, causing smearing. (I figure it must be a chemical reaction, because the printer ink is waterproof.) So I decided this time to try using my laser printer for the image. I'm happy to report that it worked like a charm!
I sized the image in Photoshop, & printed it onto a piece of bristol paper. I colored it with my markers, using a damp paintbrush to spread the color out and create shading & highlights. After I'd finished coloring & the panel was dry, I die cut it with the largest of the small oval dies. I also cut a mat from a rust-colored cardstock with the largest of the large oval dies. I used liquid glue to adhere the image panel to the mat.
For the panel that goes behind the oval, I decided to use the "Feathers" 3-D embossing folder to emboss a piece of yellow cardstock. I adhered a piece of patterned paper from my scrap stash to an orange mat, and glued my embossed panel on top. Finally, I glued my matted oval on, and adhered the card front to a white card base. I decided to leave this without a greeting, since I figure the image says it all!
