For this week's IC660, Brenda has us looking at Plow & Hearth, and I was inspired by the moose, http://www.plowhearth.com/lighted-re...d-wall-art.htm, though I had to sub a deer. My son went out west a few weeks ago with his girlfriend (and came back with a fiancee). They visited a lot of national parks, but Glacier N.P. was the highlight of their trip, and where he proposed. I thought this would make a good card for his birthday which is Saturday the 4th, first day of DTGD!
I started with glossy photo paper and sponged DOX colors, spritzed with water and wiped off. Stamped the deer, trees and some grass which is barely visible. I had to sponge some color into the deer to make his coat look better, but the grass turned brown and it looks like he has fleas or flies around him, haha. I die cut the deer and mounted on a die cut brown circle. I stamped the card base using the brick ef in antique linen, lightly misted, and stamped pine branches then attached the deer circle and popped up with foam tape, then stamped the sentiment.

Thanks for the detailed description of how you did this card. I always appreciate seeing the steps taken and how they turn out on the final product. Your card has a unique, western rustic feel that fits so well with the deer. TFS!

So beautiful! I don't see fleas....ha. I see grasses, trees, and that awesome deer. Your deer folder and the pine branches look great. What? A wedding the day the DTGD starts. Well, you can catch up. We know you'll be at the wonderful wedding of your son.

What a great story, and your son should love this card! Did he tell you ahead of time that he was going to propose? My son told me the day before after he asked her father for her hand in marriage. Love to hear love stories!
