I love all the "tranquil cottage colors" in the Sunday Stamps challenge, so it was fun to come up with a theme that's soft and relaxing that ALSO had some shiny heat embossed element required by the TGIF challenge!
My card base is a standard A2 (8.5"x 5.5" folded in half) piece of Stampin' Up! Tranquil Tide cardstock. The SU Smoky Slate gray matting 4."x 5.25" SU Smoky Slate.
The main panel is 3.75'x 5" SU Whisper White. I started by stamping the SU "Work of Art" zig-zag image onto the white panel using SU Basic Gray ink so that the image ran off the right side of the panel. I re-inked the stamp and stamped off once to put light zig-zags at the top and bottom of the white panel running off the edge in both cases to create shadow zig-zags.
I then used the "splotch" image inked with the same gray, but stamped off once to stamp above and below the zig-zag.
Next, I inked the "brush stroke" from the same stamp set using SU Tranquil Tide ink. This was then stamped in opposite corners above and below the gray zig-zag from the "splotches". I inked this same image up again with the same color, but stamped off once each time before stamping two lighter "brush strokes" in the upper part of the card.
I then stamped about four times using the "splatter" image from the SU "Gorgeous Grunge" across most of the remaining white space using the SU Tranquil Tide ink (are you suspicious that I love this color?).
I felt the upper gray "splotch" needed something, so inked the "dot" from the same stamp set with SU Basic Gray, and stamped it near the tip of the greenish brushstroke atop the light gray "splotch".
I didn't know exactly what occasion this card would be used for, so stamped the generic sentiment "just for you" using Versamark ink, then sprinkled with detailed black embossing powder, and heat set with my heat tool.
I finished off the stamped panel using a craft sponge to sponge all the edges of the panel with Tranquil Tide ink, then to lightly sponge where it seemed to be bright white areas showing through. This softened the panel significantly!
The stamped main panel was glued to the gray mat with Tombow glue, then the two together were attached to the card base using lots of adhesive foam strips. If I were to do the card again, I would have glued the gray mat to the card base, and put the adhesive foam strips under the stamped panel to heighten the shadowing around the main panel.
I think the card is eye catching (or is that my Tranquil Tide fetish influencing me?), and is appropriate for a guy or gal occasion. I am giving this card a difficulty level of "1" out of "5" because it doesn't require any advanced skills, and the stamps are so amenable to being used together in an eclectic manner.
