For Polly's Color on Color MIXed media challenge today I decided to pull out two bird stamps and make Christmas cards. I used the pencil shaded watercolor tutorial which she linked to (though I didn't emboss or stamp in white). If I'd had my brain properly engaged this morning I would have done the watercolour layers and left them to dry before going to make desserts for tomorrow...as it was, I didn't get upstairs till after noon.
For this one I stamped the titmouse on watercolour paper and coloured with Winsor & Newton watercolours. Left it to dry while I stamped and coloured my next one.
Then I brushed water over it and sprinkled blue bister, dabbing it with some kitchen towel. Added chunky white EP, stamped the sentiment. Then I edged it with black, added some white acrylic paint for snow, glossy accents on the beak and added it to my card base.

Another fab card Sabrina! I see you're getting very creative using bisters as your second medium ;) That bird looks so serious..lol. And that chunky ep adds such a unique texture (mine's on the way...can't wait).

It's all so very lovely: the subject, the placement, the coloring, the textures, the border, the looseness of the sentiment as if the bird could have written it, and the overall feeling of peace.
