Here is a very simple card for Simplicity Day, with pretty trees surrounding the building for the nature theme. I took my cue from Lisa and used something that I had hanging around. A card that I hated. Miss Boo's redo of one of her cards yesterday reminded me that I had this card that I never liked. Simplicity Day reminded me that I didn't have to do much to it, so I turned it over and used it for the base of this card for a friend. He told me one day about how his dad graduated from Providence College in 1963 and that most of the students in the class were very close and got together a lot after graduation. They even made sure to include his mom in all their gatherings after his dad passed away. He wanted to know if I could make a card that he could send to one of his dad's friends to thank him for everything he had done for the family. I couldn't say no to that. I found this pretty postcard online that has a crest on it that said 1965. I changed it to say 1963 and printed it out in color on glossy photo paper. Then I rubbed this mornings teabag on it to age it a bit and slightly crumpled and distressed the edges. Popped it up on foam squares and I've got a nice card that I like instead of that one that I hated.

ohmygosh your story is so sweet. i love everything about it - the re-use of materials, the customization, the support you provide to someone who wants to express a kindness. beautiful. (plus 1963 is a special year for me for that is the year i was born.)

Always great to upcycle an old unloved card instead of just binning it, very in keeping with the challenge. And what a great looking card for your friend. How cool that you were able to find the perfect (almost!) postcard to use.

A perfect save! I like that you shared the original too, even though you are not fond of it. I have a few cards that could do with some revamping or upcycling!

How perfect to send this to someone who would appreciate it. Now aren't you glad you held on to this card?

I think the story behind the card makes it even more beautiful. I guess I'll have to hang on to cards I don't like and think about re purposing them rather than throwing away.
