This challenge reminded me of the trip I took to Scotland with my daughter. It was fun researching my Scottish roots (Campbell being my maiden name) and attempting to make the Campbell tartan. I used the Q-Tip method to paint the thistle and found the Campbell crest online and printed it. Ne Oblivscaris means Never Forget. The Double Triangle Fold tutorial was simple to follow and helped me create a new type of card. Great challenges this week!

Aye, but we are clansmen! My ancestors descend from the Camel (Campbell) clan! We should celebrate with a wee dram! Love your Campbell tartan and crest! Well done, cousin!

I just thought you may be interested--there is a Campbell Cousins reunion this summer (every two years) in Nelson PA. I just got an invite. There is a group on Facebook--Campbells, Luggs & Blackwells of Nelson, PA. Bill from that group has done extensive research and has traced the family geneology pretty well. Don't know if you are descended, but wouldn't that be cool? I descend from the Samuel Hazlett family.

What a cool card to commemorate your Scottish heritage! That's awesome that your created your own Campbell tartan bg to go with the crest. And your "dotted" thistle turned out great!

The Q-tips made for a great thistle - thanks for trying it out! That crest with the wild boar (I think) is really cool! I can just see it on some Campbell laird's signet ring.

What a fun trip for you & your DD and what a bonus to find your namesake crest! Great looking thistle with the Q-tip technique and excellent diy plaid!

I feel like I've been on a trip to the British Isles this week. So interesting to see all the different tartans and learning about some of the family histories. I like the blue & green tartan you used on your card.
