I made both my cards for yesterday's challenges yesterday, but I just couldn't get my act together to upload them. This is for Sabrina's challenge to paint with Q-Tips. I had tried this before and with the Lovely As A Tree set. But I had used a different stamp and used fall colors. So I figured why not try this image (the one that gets the least love) and make a spring blooming tree. First I colored the trunk with markers and the grass. Then I started off with green paint and three Q-Tips together. But I didn't like the look of the grouped Q-Tips. So I switched to just using one at a time. I like the wilder look. My tree started to look to perfectly formed (and I do not like my trees trimmed and shaped) so I added some "flowers" outside the lines. Then to tie the tree into the grass, I dabbed a few spots of green paint on the ground. To finish, I was going to do a marker border all the way around the panel, but after I did the first side, I kind of liked the look and left it that way.

Now why did I not think of using that tree! It looks magnificent, and it's the one I use least too. The grass also looks fabulous, and leaving the doodled border off adds to the open-air feeling of freedom.

Jen, this is so sweet and such a calming Sympathy card. Love the colors you used on the tree, and that tree is perfect for this card and challenge. Wonderfully creative thinking.
