This card was made for Try Stampin' on Tuesday Sketch Challenge #373, including the optional theme "fields of flowers" at https://TryStampinOnTuesday.blogspot.com
When I saw the optional theme of "fields of flowers", my mind instantly went to the beautiful retired Stampin' Up Designer Series Paper (DSP) "Wildflower Fields". Using this as my color palette, I cut the card base of SU Calypso Coral cardstock to the standard A2 size (5.5" x 8.5", folded in half). The main panel is the beautiful strewn flowers Designer Series Paper from the SU "Wildflower Fields" collection. I cut the floral panel to 5.25" x 4" so that there would be a matting of Calypso Coral showing on all sides. This panel was attached to the card base using Tombow glue.
I chose the multi-layered stamped flowers from the retired SU "Flower Patch" stamp set, and created the large flower on Whisper White cardstock using my MISTI to stamp first with SU Groovy Guava, then Calypso Coral, and finally the center using Tangerine Tango stamped three times to create a deeper, darker color. I chose these stamps and colors because they combined the colors and shapes of the flowers from the DSP.
I then cut out the flower using a die from the matching SU "Flower Faire" Framelits die set. The flower was then glued to a circle of retired SU Blue Bayou cardstock that I cut with my Spellbinders circle dies. This assemblage was then glued to the floral panel toward the lower right of the card front.
The sketch required a vertical element that spanned the card front offset slightly to the right atop the round element. I chose a 7" piece of SU Island Indigo ruffled ribbon, which I attached with an adhesive runner.
The final element was the sentiment. I used a 1997 retired greeting from the "Everyday Expressions" set so that I could use the card for just about any occasion (birthday, anniversary, wedding, or any milestone day). It was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto scrap piece of SU Whisper White cardstock. I cut it out using a retired SU "Labels Collection" nesting die. The next size up die would have left just a bit too large matting, so I traced the outside edge of the same die onto SU Calypso Coral cardstock, and fussy cut it with paper snips. The two were glued together, then mounted atop the ribbon and flower using adhesive foam strips on either side of the ribbon (to avoid an uneven fit).
The card came together rather quick, and the only "hard" part was hand-trimming the sentiment matting. I'm rating the difficulty level for this card as "2" out of "5". I really like it's versatility for just about any special occasion!
