I worked on this card last weekend and just never quite managed to get it uploaded. I struggled with getting a decent photograph of it, but this will have to do. It all started on Saturday when I saw the Inspiration Challenge that Stacy hosted. Thank you, Stacy for a beautiful site for this week's challenge! I love the Vera Bradley site and found this this lovely piece inspired me. As to how close it fits, that's up to you. But it's what inspired me - what can I say other than I love fabric!
The background is a piece that I was playing with weeks ago with Oxide inks - sloshing the mixed media paper around in some of the smooshed and sprayed ink (not remembering at all what colors I used). I actually had fun, but I didn't really know what to do with it after that. Haha! So that's how my card started. I decided to use one of my new stamp sets. I colored the one of the flowers, some leaves, along with the sweet little branch of berries, and then I fussy cut them and shaped them with my Empressor tool. I die cut the background with wonky stitched dies and matted it with black. I arranged the flowers as I wanted them, allowing for the sentiment. I used my Mini MISTI (which surprisingly stamped beautifully on the first impression), and then I started adding the leaves and finally the flower (using various dimensional/adhesive products for different elevations). Once the berries were down, I colored the white area (that I couldn't totally fussy cut) with Copic markers to match the background as closely as possible. I used some Wink of Stella on the petals, which you can see on the top of the flower. I was going to do some white splatter, but I forgot. I'm still pretty new to this whole mixed media thing, but I'm working on it! Ha!
In the end, it was great fun - and this card will hopefully encourage a friend. Thanks for taking a closer look at my card. I've been MIA once again and hope to get back into the swing of things, but life is never predictable. Have a wonderful weekend, sweet friends!! Hugs! xoxo

I have missed your postings Cheryl and so happy when I saw this come up. I love your background ... so fun are those inks, and your flower is beautifully done. My eyes went wide when I read you fussy cut this ... wow, I think you are the Queen of Fussy Cutting. Hugs,

WOW Cheryl this was worth the wait! Your DO bg turned out so pretty...love the colors which are great for the pink peony. The peony is beautifully colored (my peonies just finished blooming...they're all gone now :( ) ....and a single bloom with the berries is just so pretty. The wonky stitched die cut works so well for this. Hope you're feeling better and are able to create more beauties like this. Hugs!

Oh, I just saw this upload. It's a happy Friday when Cheryl shows up! STUNNING! I can't believe all the dimension you created. Your coloring is impeccable and kudos on the b/g. I haven't done much with mixed media either. We'll have to work on that. Wish we could work on that together. Wouldn't that be great. I am so, so glad you were able to share some more of your beautiful art.

I have to agree - you are definitely Queen of the Fussy Cutting. I love fussy cutting and layering the images up as well. Love the inky background - just perfect for your beautifully coloured peony. My peonies are just sticks at the moment - having a well earned winter rest. Now going to check out the stitched dies - you can never have too many of them - he he. Glad to see you back in the gallery again.

Beautiful flower image, beautiful colouring Cheryl! I’m so relieved to see you didn’t fussy cut those berries, j was fearing for the safety of your fingers until I read the full description- you did a fabulous job matching the background with the Copics. A very lovely card, I’m sure it will be appreciated!
