My dear friend Donna's 75th birthday is tomorrow (YIKES!) and I could not come up with a birthday card for her. I bemoaned this fact to my DH so he came into my craft room and looked around at all the gorgeous cards people have sent to me and pointed to this card that Sabrina (cook22) made: MMTPT511 Bonjour Butterfly by Cook22 at Splitcoaststampers. DH said this was the perfect card for my friend Donna. He was right of course, but I groaned and told DH that the gal who made this is one of the most talented people on SCS and she used 8 million techniques on this gorgeous card. DH told me that is the card and if I only use 2 million techniques, Donna will never know. Ha! So, thanks to Sabrina, Donna will be getting a birthday card now. One of the things I loved the most about Sabrina's card was the gorgeous dsp she used- oh my. So, I went rummaging through my extensive stash of dsp and found this rose dsp that has a similar feel to Sabrina's. I loved how it looked die cut. I got these layered rose dies in a magazine back in April and I had assembled 3 of these roses so they were sitting on top of my desk, and they worked beautifully with this dsp. My friend Donna loves roses so I used the roses in Lieu of Sabrina's gorgeous butterfly die. Then I used the numbers instead of the gorgeous flowers Sabrina used. I actually wanted to do a little pocket envelope with a fabulous note inside of it, but I could not make that work on this card. In the end, I did like DH said and used fewer techniques on this card, and I am pleased with the end result. Thank you for the awesome inspiration Sabrina! And, this card also fits this week's alphabet challenge for the letter R for Regal Rose which is one of the rose layers. ~Karen.

Oh, this is spectacular, Karen! Love seeing how you used those magazine rose dies, cause as you know I bought that mag. too! Love the paper you found from your stash and the diecut areas add such interest. The red 75 stands out perfectly and goes with your red rose theme. I am sure Donna will love this beautiful card! Wowsers, my friend.

WOW beautiful shabby chic card for your friend! You took your inspiration from Sabrina's card and ran with it...I love your roses and that paper goes so well with it (I have that dp...I'm kind of hoarding it cuz it's so pretty). Donna will treasure this special card.

A fabulous story, Karen...and a gorgeous card! Your CASEing of Sabrina's layout is so great, but it definitely veered off to become yours! Your dsp is beautiful and those wonderful die-cut roses are the perfect compliment. Love your silver delicate edging...looks like stitching!
