Judy has challenged us to coffee painting today, but I don't have coffee in my house. I do have tea though. So this was a perfect challenge for me to make these cards that I've been thinking about for awhile now. On Sunday, the Tuesday Club of Assonet hosts the annual Strawberry Festival. They raise a lot of money selling hot dogs and strawberry shortcake and hand out a lot of scholarships to the town's high school seniors. I'm making these cards for them to sell there as well to raise money.
I started by printing historic photos on glossy photo paper and rubbing the tea bag from my morning cup of tea all over them. Then I distressed the edges with my fingernail and creased them up a bit. I ran Antique Linen along the edges and glued them down to a notecard with script and a postmark lightly stamped on them. I think these will be a hit at the fundraiser.
The photo on the left is "Profile Rock". It's like Assonet's own smaller version of the Man in the Mountain in NH. The photo on the right is of the home of Major John Deane, who received the Medal of Honor in the Civil War. The home later became The Assonet Inn, a popular restaurant that just closed down in the last year or two.
