OMG, you guys! I did it! I was sure this was going to be my third failed MIX challenge in a row. I'm generally very bad at watercolor, but it turns out you don't need tons of watercolor skill to make this. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to do it again, but I did it once! I googled marble and found that my favorites are the gold tones, so I kept a picture handy and started in with the Distress inks and the water and finished off with white paint and gold mixative. My mom agreed that it looked like marble, so that's a win. But I couldn't finish my card this morning because the white Distress Paint wouldn't dry. So I finished it up tonight with my new stamps and dies from Verve. I'm excited about my new collection of Verve, but sad that it's my last. I've only been part of SCS for two and a half years, but I already understand how important Julee and Verve are to us. Hey, I even scored the Verve prize in my first Falliday Fest! I also understand how precious each moment is with two little boys and I wish Julee the very best!

WOW this is so like real marble...especially in those neutral tones. This works so well for a sympathy or thinking of you card. I need to check out this technique. Beautiful...TFS!
Wowzers! This turned out amazing!! I tried that same technique a few months ago and it didn't turn out so I am even more impressed!!! I started my background in the morning but had to wait all day to let it dry as well.
Oh my -- I LOVE that super cool background you created! Can't believe you created that awesome marble background with distress inks and paint -- simple fabulous! So happy you linked this up to the Cropstop blog this month - do join us again soon!
