This challenge was serendipitous. On Thursday I had just made a bunch of rolling marble as well as shaving cream backgrounds showing one of my customers some fun things to do with her grandchildren and stamping for the summer. I pulled 5 double fronts out of the one inking I did of the shaving cream--each one fades a little as it progresses. The first one is rarely my favorite because the colors are too bold.
Funny fact--I really don't like pink very much. I had chosen Berry Burst because it doesn't scream pink at me, but as it faded, it quickly became very pink. Then I was stuck making pink cards. Guess I'm all stocked up on pink for awhile.
When I make a unique background like this, I don't like to cover it up with a lot of other stuff. I try to choose a design and stamps that complement rather than compete with the background.
For this card, the shaving cream chose this flower stamp. When I first saw the pattern on the paper, it reminded me of this flower. I covered up much of it with the marker, but you can still see the shaving cream radiating from the flower like they were made for each other.
Notice that it has been featured in the TLC twice. That's because it's just fun--everybody, whatever their ages always enjoy doing this one. Everyone gets a surprise in the end because it's really hard to control or predict the results.
