I'm sorry I've forgotten how to use my HTML lingo. If someone would kindly PM and remind me I would appreciate it so much.
I was absolutely smitten with Norine's Hollyhocks and asked her permission to the CASE the card - she very kindly said yes! Yay for me!
Ladies, why haven't I thought of using my die cuts like this before?! I used a piece of Canson Watercolor paper cut to 3 3/4 x 5 inches.
Using the Impression Obsession Hollyhock DIE169-R I die cut several pieces to use later and laid them aside to watercolor.
Then I placed the dies on the watercolor panel where I wanted to have them inlaid and ran them through my die cutting machine. I gently turned it over and put tape over the cut areas. Then, I flipped the panel over to the correct side and inlaid the hollyhocks into place (don't forget to put the little centers back in).
Now the fun part. I watercolored with my Prima Confection watercolors. Once it was dry I placed the extra hollyhocks I had watercolored and set aside on top of the inlays. Some more watercoloring to deepen the dimension and create the idea of a garden or field full of these beautiful flowers. The sentiment is from Penny Black (Eloquence). I love the fonts used by Penny Black. I loved this card so much that I actually created 4 cards in different colors to give as a gift. If you happen to be on Instagram you can see them there. I also want to give a shout out to Debby Hughes. Debby just posted a wonderful blog post and 2 part video review on the Prima Confection Watercolors. It's such an informative post. If this is something that interests you, please make sure you don't miss this post and video.
Thank you to Barbara for hosting the Color Challenge and all the team who provided their beautiful samples.
And as always, thank you for your visit.
Sincerely,
Susie ~
