How could I resist a challenge that required the use of my favorite color??? The gold embossing that 52CCT Deisgn Team members Fabiola and EK used inspired me to create this card.
The card base is the standard 5-1/2"x 8-1/2" Whisper White cardstock folded in half. The the front of the card I glued a 5-1/2"x4-1/4" piece of gold foil paper using Tombow glue. Because this paper is so thin, I normally don't use glue, but instead run it through my Xyron to avoid any irregularities showing thru due to the tiny raised surface the glue creates. But, since I was going to layer my textured turquoise panel over the top, I just used glue this time.
The turquoise panel was made by first cutting a piece of 5-1/4"x 4" Stampin' Up Island Indigo cardstock, and running it through my Big Shot using the stars and moon die from the SU "Card Front Builder Thinlits Dies". This created stars and the moon cutouts that allowed the gold underneath to show through.
The textured surface was created by using the SU "Woodlands" embossing folder. I tapped clear Versamark ink on the inside surface of the front of the folder, then place my die cut piece of Island Indigo carefully inside and ran it through the Big Shot. I immediately sprinkled gold embossing powder on the embossed sheet, and heat set it with my heat tool. This panel was then mounted on top of the gold foil panel using adhesive foam strips generously on the back.
The sentiment was stamped using Versamark ink and gold embossing powder on Whisper White cardstock. After heat setting, it was cut out with a Spellbinders circle die, then matted with a 3" circle punched from the same gold foil paper. The circle was cut off at the bottom, then mounted onto the turquoise textured panel using adhesive foam strips.
A single tree was die cut from an Island Indigo cardstock scrap, and the tips of the tree lightly inked with Versamark. Gold embossing powder was sprinkled on the tips, and then heat set with the heat tool. It was attached to the textured panel using adhesive foam strips and a Mini Glue Dot.
Finally, a tiny gold deer was die cut from the same gold foil paper, and glued onto the single gold-tipped tree at the bottom.
I am rating this card as a difficulty level "4" out of "5" because of the numerous steps required to create it. No single step is complicated, just a lot of steps and layers.
I love how the turquoise and gold go together, and look forward to sending it to a loved one this coming holiday season! Thank you to the 52CCT Design Team for the inspiration!
