This card was created for Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch challenge #370: http://trystampinontuesday.blogspot.com/
The optional theme was to incorporate vellum in the card.
I had seen a lovely card on Pinterest by Hansi Brittain that used different stamps, but showed what you could do with waves and the emboss resist technique, so I adapted it for this week's sketch and the stamps I have in my collection.
The card base is Stampin' Up Tranquil Tide cardstock. The main panel is a 4"x 5-1/4" piece of SU Whisper White. On the white I used clear Versamark with an older wave stamp I've had forever to stamp repeated offset waves over the entire piece. Then using detailed white embossing powder, I sprinkled thoroughly and heat embossed. Then using a sponge, I rubbed three shades of blue ink onto the whole panel, being sure to make the lower part darker to establish a "foundation" for the scene. Then to make the embossed waves stand out, I used a piece of paper towel to burnish off the ink that was on the embossed waves.
The vellum paper panel (use vellum cardstock if you have some for less bowing due to heat embossing) is 3-3/4"x 4-1/4". I used the lighthouse and rock stamps from SU's "High Tide" stamp set and agian stamped with clear Versamark ink. This was also covered with detailed embossing powder and heat set. Note that you should avoid using too much heat to minimize warping. Also, you can lightly heat on the back of the vellum to help "de-warp" the piece somewhat.
This embossed vellum scene was attached to the waves panel using Mini Glue Dots. Because of the "busy-ness" of the wave panel, you can get away with putting glue dots just about anywhere without them showing up.
The card was finished by attached a paper starfish embellishment from my stash using adhesive foam strips.
This card was very easy to make, so I am giving it a difficulty rating of "2" out of "5". I think it will be useful for many different types of occasions. I'll simply die-cut a sentiment and attach to the lower right when I decide who I want to send it to.

Beautiful white embossing all around! Love the water coloring by sponge-resist...so pretty. water ripples are so pretty beneath your lovely lighthouse vellum overlay!
