This old jalopy birthday card is for my brother, whose hobby is restoring old cars and pickups to a thing of beauty. I am able to enter my card into several SCS challenges as follows:
1. Alphabet Challenge, Round 8, Letter J - DD8ABC10J - 10/18/17. (I'm still playing catch-up with four more to go!) J for JALOPY, with the double challenging requiring the use of Quadrille or grid paper, which I used as a mat layer and on my sentiment flag.
2. Free for All Challenge F4A424 - 4/6/18...."Duuuuuude." Make a masculine card. My jalopy card for my brother is definitely masculine!
3. Teapot Tuesday MMTPT507 - 4/10/18..."Show Your Love". It's National Sibling Day...make a card to show your sibling love...use an image that reminds you of them. As my brother restores beat up jalopies to their original beauty, I thought this jalopy card would be perfect for him.
4. Inspiration Challenge IC646 - 4/21/18..."The Smithsonian Institute." Under the "America on the Move" collection, which discusses the history of vehicle transportation in the U.S., and under pickup trucks, it features a beautifully restored, blue, 1949 GMC pickup. My idea for a blue truck color works perfectly, though my truck depicts a jalopy truck in need of restoration. This is the link: http://amhistory.si.edu/onthemove/co...object_14.html.

What a great guy card! I've been pushed to get some masculine Birthday cards done of late. This is a super style for a couple of the guys on my list! The woodgrain embossing and burlap ribbon are great touches. TFS

Ha! He lives in California...two states away, so don't see him as often as I'd like. He let's me ooh and aah over them and ride in them. He's never let me drive one. He doesn't even let his wife drive them except VERY infrequently. He's a Chevy man so they have all been Chevies...he's done an old pickup and about five cars, varying in age from the 1940's to 1950's, and helped friends with theirs. They are pretty when finished, but often quite rusty when he starts!
