How fun to get our inspiration from the Smithsonian today. A bit overwhelming, but I couldn't resist the Statue of Liberty. I really loved this colorful picture because I thought it just perfectly represented all the people from all the different countries that poured in and settled the USA. But I also just loved the background of this stamp. So this is a combination of the two pictures. I used started by stamping my Lady Liberty and masking her, so I could sponge that fabulous background. I made it a postage stamp with my ScanNCut. I colored her with nice bright, bold colors and some copper accents since the statue is made of copper. I used a postal mark stamp in Elderberry and spritzed with water to make it hurried and messy looking. And I finished by wrapping it in twine to really give it a package look. Finally, I decided since I had this patriotic card to add three pearls in the corner for Barbara's funeral today. I might keep this for myself, I like it so much.

Oh, Jen! I love it! What a beautiful combination of inspiration pieces you chose and how you "married" them together to make this amazing card! I so love the Statue of Liberty and all it represents. My grandparents along with my dad and his sister came into this country through Ellis Island, and I count it a blessing to be an American. And how very special that you added the three pearls for Barbara's funeral today. She was amazing woman! Beautifully done, and your blending of coloring is gorgeous! Love the postal dies and your finishing touches! This is very special! Hugs! xoxo

What an awesome card, Jennifer. I love it so much and enjoyed reading how you made it. Love that you added the three pearls in remembrance of the former First Lady's funeral today.

This is fabulous, Jen! I love your folk art Liberty w/ the beautiful sponged bg. What a sweet remembrance for Barbara Bush, too. My mom's ancestors came from Ireland, Scotland & England in the late 1500's so I don't think there was an Ellis Island yet. My dad's ancestors..well he calls them the OP's (for Original People)...Cherokee, so they were already here, lol.

Oh, how sweet that you added authentic faux pearls in honor of Mrs. Bush. I love what you have done here and I love your background. Oddly, this reminds me of a Christmas ornament that I have.
