This card was made for Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch challenge #364: http://trystampinontuesday.blogspot....tterflies.html with the optional theme of "shades of one color". I was inspired Cindy Elam's card on Pinterest.
The card base is made with Stampin' Up's Crumb Cake cardstock. The main panel is 5-1/4"x 4" Whisper White. I started by cutting out two cardstock masks I would use for sponging:
1. 2-7/8" circle cutout for sponging the water and sky using a Nestabilities circle die
2. a ray pattern cut by hand using my paper trimmer with the rays all radiating from a central point (by-eye spacing, no special measurements)
Using the circle mask, I taped it with washi tape over my main panel so it would be slight offset to the left from center. Then I stamped the water waves (from the "High Tide" stamp set) first using Marina Mist, then offsetting the waves, I over-stamped with Coastal Cabana. I then lightly sponged Marina Mist to give the water a more blue look. This met the optional "shades of one color" part of the challenge.
Next, I used a scrap piece of cardstock to cover the water part of the circle (with just a hint of the water showing above the mask), and sponged the sky using SU Barely Banana, Daffodil Delight, and So Saffron. At the top of the sky I light sponged Groovy Guava. Again, "shades of one color".
To create the rays, I used my hand-cut rays template as a mask and taped it over the sky. I sponged So Saffron into the ray openings. If I were to do it again, I would only sponge lightly to decrease the darkness of the rays.
After removing all the masks, I used the grass stamp from the "High Tide" set, and Crumb Cake ink to stamp the short grass on the lower left of the Whisper White panel. I wanted a more wispy look, so I also stamped the sea oats pattern from the "Wildlands" stamp set. To thematically connect the grasses with the circle image, I overlapped some of the grass stamping onto the water.
Finally, I used the flying seabirds image form the "High Tide" set, and stamped them overlapping the sky using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
I wrapped SU Linen Thread around the stamped panel 5 times, then tied a bow at the right side.
The sentiment from the "High Tide" set was stamped onto Whisper White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Because there are wider parts to the letters, I used my MISTI to triple stamp the sentiment to ensure solid black letters. This was cut out with a circle from SU's "Stitched Shapes" framelits set. Because I wanted a very narrow matting for the circle, I used a 2" punch to cut Crumb Cake. The sentiment circle was glued to the matting using Tombow glue. the matted circle was then mounted onto the main panel using adhesive foam strips to lift it above the panel for added dimension.
Finally, the assembled main panel was attached to the card base using adhesive foam strips.
The card was pretty straightforward, and the amount of skilled sponging was pretty basic, so I'm giving this card a difficulty rating of "3" out of "5".

Absolutely beautiful card. Love how you've added the sun rays in the circle for the sky and the birds flying outside. The added grasses in the lower corner, just everything about this card is wonderful.
