There is a bit more colour in real life than I was able to capture in the photo on a rainy dull day. It's my third attempt and it's still not the best but I didn't want to waste any more watercolour paper.
Stamped the flourish, added colour with my black, blue and brown Elegant Writer pens. The brown bleeds into some nice rusty reds, and I used more of it on my binned attempts, here I only used it on the bodies and wing tips. Stamped the script and splatters, and then the sentiment - seem to be having a run on sympathy cards right now.

I really love how this turned out. Elegantly subtle describes it perfectly! I have never used the brown but am going to give it a try. Thanks for the tip.

Fabulous card - love the butterfly flourish and it's perfect with the text and splatters. I only have a black Elegant Writer pen - you've inspired me to pick up a couple of coloured ones.
