It's time again for this week's Color Challenge! I really wanted to try a technique by Cynde Whitlow of The Pink Envelope (tracing a die and making it look recessed). It's my first try, and I hope to "hone my skill" of it in another card. This week has been tough with having some home renovations, and I was happy at least to finish a card. ;)
I laid out all the card stock colors for this week's colors and found colored pencils that matched. I stamped the flower first, and then (after deciding what Scripture verse I wanted to use) I used washi tape to place the die over the card. I used a fine line marker to trace the die on each side of the flower and then drew the faux-stitches (pardon my "sewing machine's" hiccup or two!). Coloring was next, and I place the colored card stock under what I am coloring to keep as true to the color as possible. It's amazing how Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip help to enhance the Powder Pink to give more contrast and depth. I used those colors to give a recessed look "inside" the scalloped edges. I used my Mini MISTI for the sentiment and then added a Chocolate Chip mat. (I was going to do a one-layer card but chickened out. Somehow it looked a bit naked!) Coloring with pencils is a slow process, and it helps to use a very light hand and build on it before burnishing the colors. This isn't a favorite card, but I do love this Scripture verse that is so precious to me. I need to build up my stash of cards with Scripture. Such great encouragement to so many.
I passed on this week's dessert of water coloring. I really wanted to water color with these colors, but no way given the renovations! So, I hope you will have dessert this week for me! Okay?
Hope you join us for this week's color challenge, and thanks for taking a closer look at my card. And have a beautiful week! May your weather warm up and bring you flowers! Hugs, all!

What a gorgeous design!! It's so fun that you are part of the guest design team for the CC! I just love looking at your cards. As always gorgeous coloring but the scripture is what made me pause! I read it through twice. So thankful for good words like this! Love and hugs!
