This is my second card for this week’s Free For All Friday Challenge - F4A424 “Duuuuuuuude!!” 4/6/18. The Challenge was to make a card for a guy, any occasion, any age of guy.
The timing was perfect for this challenge because I had 3 guy cards that I needed to make. All of the cards were get well cards and each one of the recipients needed a different style of card to suit their personality. No duplicates from this card maker!!! Ha...even when I try to make cards the same they turn out completely different! Tell me itÂ’s the same with you, please.
This card was made for a friend of my hubby who is an outdoorsy kind of guy who likes hunting and fishing and anything outdoors. Since I have already made cards for this fellow with elk and fish themes, I decided to go with a mountain lakeside theme for this get well greeting.
This card is made using SU Waterfront, a new watercolor-look set from the 2018 Occasions Catalog. I bought this set at SU workshop because of the beach/ocean stamps in the set, never realizing at the time that it also had stamps that could make woodland & lake scenes. Wow, Wow, Wow!!!! This set is the BOMB!!! So fun and easy to use, and even flubs end up looking good!
The lakeside woodland scene I created here took about 5 minutes to make, and would have taken less time than that if I had thought ahead to use watercolor paper instead of regular old white cardstock. Because of that, I wasnÂ’t able to get the lovely, impressionistic look using the the aqua brush after stamping - this paper did not like getting wet! I had smears where I didnÂ’t intend and fingerprints that I was able to blend into the background. Note to self: Next time use real watercolor paper or shimmer cardstock!
The sentiment I used was awkwardly long, so I decided to tuck it up and under the image panel to balance out the size. In case you are wondering where I got the tag die that fit it, I cheated and used only the bottom of edge of a large Main Street stitched tag die by Poppy Stamps.
It was kind of you to pop by and look at my Lakeside get well card. Thank you for that! Do you have a guy in your life who is needing a pick-me-up card? Bet ya do, and this would be a great time to join us in this Dude Challenge. CanÂ’t wait to see your creation!

Awesome dude card! I just played with this stamp set for the first time today. Your comments on paper are helpful. Love what you did with the stamps and your card design. I like the long strip across the card and how you tucked the sentiment underneath. Terrific background. I enjoyed seeing your card today! TFS

I popped this card straight into my faves. I agree with you, this set is definitely " the bomb"!it seems impossible to make a bad card with it, it's so forgiving! I love your small slice of the scene, the great sentiment and the way you tucked it under the image, and that rustic woodgrain paper. Outstanding card!

Wow, three guy cards at once, eh? That would just about do me in! LOL! But I love how you've used this wonderful set that keeps "calling my name" and I've so far held strong. But I really love the serene and tranquil scene you've created. Oh my, I am weakening! LOL! But I love it! Congratulations on making all three cards! Hugs!
