For Polly's Celebrate Spring MIXed media challenge. I'm afraid flowers and butterflies are as spring-like as this gets because as well as using her challenge for the focal image, I wanted to use my piece from Dina's Stamping with Watercolour Powders tutorial from this week's Inkling, and it was rather rich colours.
Base - watercolour paper and IO Reverse Damask stamped as per the tutorial. It's not perfect but with practice it could be better and I love the look, and the feel in real life. It took quite a while to make, with all the drying time.
This morning I stamped the flower from the Unity set on white card with Pumice Stone, and pierced all round - Polly has a link to the tutorial in her challenge post. I coloured it with Prima watercolours, and then added shadows and shading with Couleur d'Art pencils as both my previous mediums were water-based. I also added some gel pen dots, and a sprinkling of chunky gold EP on both the background and image panel. I then stencilled the image panel with Forest Moss DOX and a TCW stencil and sponged over it with antique linen to give it a softer look. It's matted on a black circle and a Lotus die-cut. I drew black borders on the base, and finally added two little butterflies which were on my desk. I used blue and purple watercolour, picking up on some of the colours in the background piece.
