I have a small container on my craft desk that has little bits left over from projects that I can use on other projects. The other day, I was kind of at a loss as to what I wanted to do, so I decided to dump out that container's contents and see what I had. Among the pieces were 20+ small balloons that I had die cut from various patterned papers from my scrap stash. Don't know when I did it, and don't know why I had so many cut out! But I decided to make a couple of birthday cards using them. This card is one of them, and the other is basically identical.
I decided to use the fox from "Up and Away" to hold on to the balloons. I stamped him in Versafine onto a scrap of bristol paper. I colored him with my Tombow markers, using a damp paintbrush to blend the colors and provide some shading. After that dried, I die cut him with the coordinating die.
I cut a panel of bristol paper, and inked it with Salty Ocean and the "Cloud" stencil, so it looks like my little fox friend is flying in the clouds. I positioned the fox where I wanted him to be, and used that to help me place the greeting, from "Your Day." (I wanted his little tail tucked into the greeting.) I stamped the greeting in Versafine, using my MISTI, directly onto the background. Then I glued my little fox in place with liquid glue.
I chose several balloons from the collection I'd found, and layered them towards the top of the panel. I used Press 'n' Seal to pick them up, and applied glue to the backs. In the end, I don't know that the Press 'n' Seal helped all that much for this case, possibly because the patterned papers were kind of thin. At any rate, I finally got them all glued down. Using liquid glue gave me a bit of time to get some slipped in behind others, so that helped. Finally, I used a black Micron 03 pen to draw the strings from the bunch of balloons to the fox's hand, and adhered my card front to a white card base. I will send both cards to Darlene at Live Love Cards, to donate to The Birthday Party Project. This group throws birthday parties for homeless children, with gifts, guests, cake, & cards--the whole nine yards! Hopefully they will find the perfect recipient!

What a cute card. Love how the balloons are lifting our little fox out of this world. Love all the patterned paper you used for the balloons and the cloud background is amazing.
