Stef is our hostess in the color challenge this week, and she really challenged me with Calypso Coral, Peekaboo Peach and Emerald Envy! The dessert option this week is to use your favorite embellishment.
My two cards started out with a new-to-me technique, demonstrated by the amazing Jennifer McGuire. I love watching her videos, but usually I find I don't have the needed supplies on hand to dive right in. This week I had everything on hand to try "Glazed Distress Oxide." Not knowing where the journey would take me, I decided to do one panel of all coral and peach shades, one panel of green shades, and then a third panel with both colors.
This is the first card I made, which started with the multi-color panel. I covered it liberally with an anti-static pouch. Then I stamped a large leaf-and-vine image on it with VersaMark ink, sprinkled with white embossing powder, and . . . Oh, no! The bottom part of the image was OK, but the top of the panel was completely covered with white powder!
I went ahead and melted the powder anyway, and then used a stitched square die to cut out the part that looked OK. (I do plan to experiment to see if I can figure out why that happened. My current hunch is that the micro glaze probably dries if left overnight.)
From that point on, this card sorta made itself. I need a sympathy card, and debated whether this color combination was too cheerful. I toned it down by using more of the peach and a couple of touches of black, and I think it works OK. My friend will appreciate the thought behind the card, anyway.
Please click here to see the second card I made with the other panels.
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week.

Fortunately, this turned out to be a beautiful card Barbara. Love the embossed background and the layers of frames around the beautiful flourished image!

I think the colors are perfect for a sympathy card. This card is beautiful! The leaf and vine is so pretty and a wonderful choice for the tevhnique. I love watching Jennifer's videos and trying out her techniques, too, so I know how much fun you had making this card.

I like this a lot and pinned it-I will case it in a way...I have trouble using my flourish stamps.... I never would have thought of framing it this way! Great idea! The colors caught my eye first but then I liked the design.
