I created this card for my uncle for his upcoming birthday. I used a sketch from this month's sketch challenge at Scrapbook & Cards Today's blog for my design.
I cut my patterned paper & cream cardstock pieces to size and die cut my balloons. I die cut the bottom edge of the green star paper with the "Notebook" die. I adhered the green star paper, cream cardstock, and a strip of navy & green striped paper to the music paper. I stapled the ends of the striped paper, and adhered my card front to a white card base.
To create the tag/banner shape, I cut a strip from one of the "Party Day" papers to 1" wide, keeping the chevron design centered. I cut along the "V" line to trim the bottom. I cut a small piece of navy cardstock for a topper, and trimmed the bottom edge with scalloped decorative edge scissors. I adhered that to my banner, and used my Crop-a-Dile II to punch a hole in the top & set an eyelet. Finally, I threaded through a few strands of crochet twine and knotted them, then glued the banner to my card front.
I inked around the edges of the balloons with corresponding colors of Distress inks, just so they wouldn't look quite so flat. I tied crochet twine around the bottom of each balloon, and glued them to my card front. I applied tiny dots of Perfect Paper Adhesive (matte finish) in a few spots to adhere the balloon strings in place on my card front.
I chose a greeting from "Big Birthday Sentiments," & stamped that in Navy ink onto the bottom of the cream cardstock. Then it was time to work on the inside. See my other post for that.

I have no idea why this card didn't get more love because I think it is amazing! Very cool design and colors and the details like your shading make it special.
