"We cannot direct the wind but we can adjust our sails."
I don't know if this is quite fair, but I uploaded this card earlier. I had made this card a few years ago when my dad started dialysis. My parents live 500 Miles away... I saved the photo, but it was one of the last cards I made for many years so I'm a little hazy on all the tools, apologies.
The card is 5x7 and so I used the Fiskars edge punch "Rope" and fussy cut along the side to create the rope edge that fills the area not covered by the embossed globe mat. The mat is a Darice World EF that I distressed with Walnut Stain. The compass rose is part of the image. I used the aluminum from a soda can (watch your fingers cutting these guys open - I use a straight-edge kitchen knife to puncture and remove top and bottom and cut the "tube" with scissors.) Alu-cans emboss beautifully, but you could just as easily use foil tape. Alu does not adhere easily. Here, I used a brad and a TH spinner to do that for me. I colored the compass rose with gel pens before adhering. I die-cut the mats in turquoise and red from the Nestabilities Blossom Four. Stamped the Sailboat and stamped it on the red mat and stamped and fussy-cut it from turquoise to make it pop. For the sentiment (I think it's computer generated) I used red paper and the SU Label punch and then fussy cut a frame from the turquise to mat it. I used snail tape to adhere everything and dusted the rope with baby powder (this is before they came out with the anti-static powder tool) to prevent sticking. Stamped the envelope to keep everything matching.
It was a time consuming card but was definitely therapy too. TFL

The orange and blue are quite stunning. The map looks like distressed leather texture. Very interesting composition.
