My mother passed away in December after 2 difficult years that included 10 hospital stays, 3 surgeries, 2 cancer diagnosis, and 26-months smoke-free. It's a long and difficult story but I must emphasize that she wasn't sick the whole time and although we were going to the doctors routinely, we made the most of it with lots of lunch and dinner dates. We were going to Bingo as regularly as we could (costing me a fortune!) and many hours, days, weeks of recovery here at my home. My husband is a Saint!!! He has been so supportive and really patient since I haven't been working.
October 1, 2015 was mom's 1st hospital visit to the ER for Congestive Heart Failure and because of this, every other diagnosis following were all caught early. We truly had a lot of good quality moments and mom lived on her own when she could but truth is she was too stubborn and loved me too much to live with Joe and I and didn't want to be more or a burden. I miss her but believe with all my heart, letting her go was the most loving and compassionate thing I could have done for her. She would not have handled what was to become of her life if she had come home from this last hospital stay.
I realize this is not the forum, and I've rambled, but THANK YOU for being patient and allowing me to share this card and memory with you. Mom's favorite color is purple and she would've loved this card, almost every card I've made her through the years had purple somewhere.
Bless you all and Hugaroonies!

What a beautiful card in memory of your mother. What a hard couple of years you've had...but with happy memories to add to all those others you already had.

Ohh Deborah, this is a beautiful tribute to your Mum. I'm glad you shared this card and your story with us, SCS is much more than 'cards'. Gentle hugs my friend.

Ooh Deborah! How very touching! Thank you so much for sharing this gorgeous card and the story behind it. I agree that letting her go was the most loving and compassionate thing you could have done for her. That is most difficult, but it is the best approach! Again, Deborah, I am so sorry about your loss, and I think that the SCS community is a great place to share your story and receive support! Big hugs, Deborah!

Deborah, what a beautiful card and so wonderful to color it purple in memory of your mom and her favorite color. Sharing here is just fine and I hope it helps you to tell your story, though a hard one, I'm sure. Bless you for taking such good care of you mom and giving her good times with you.
