I've been working away slowly on this panel all week as I wanted to try out the Gilded Faux Silk from last week's inkling. And I just didn't know where to go with it, but MariLynn's MIX challenge yesterday gave me the nudge to get into gear and make it into a card. I made a large sheet of the faux silk on Monday and Tuesday, using Verve's Great Friend and a little flower from Roses in Winter, and assorted Versafine inks. I left it overnight to get good and dry before crumpling it up and moving on to the faux silk part. The gilding only happened on Thursday - I just did half, and sponged over it with some squeezed lemonade.
So, last night I used the two DOX inks to make some paper to stamp the flowers on, and regular distress inks for the leaves. I used the outline flowers from the same Verve set that I'd used on the base, and stamped them with Ranger's Archival by way of an experiment. I've noticed that when I stamp with Versafine on a DOX background it seems to get slightly duller, as if reactivating the oxidation. No such problem last night...Fussy cut them, die-cut the leaves, stamped a little tag and arranged them all with a Mizuhiki cord looped detail.
The butterfly has been in my desk for a while, left from another project. The colours were a good match, so I added it.
I've already said that embossing has a real WOW factor for me - it's what got me into stamping as opposed to other types of papercraft. The Nuvo Jewel Drops are a new WOW. I've had a Glossy Accents equivalent in my stash all along - I can't even remember what the first one I but was called, but it was made by Plaid - Dimensional Glaze, maybe? But oh my - I was putting in a big order for cardstock in January and got a couple of extras to try out, including the Nuvo Mousse (love it), and just one bottle of Nuvo Drops. They are wonderful, I'll definitely be getting a couple more when the budget allows. I used Translucent on the centres of the flowers, and on the butterfly's body, sprinkling some gold glitter over.
